Konstantin Yuryevich Osipenko was born in 1950 in Moscow. In 1967 he enrolled in the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. He began his studyies at the Department of Computer Mathematics transformed in 1970 into the new Faculty of Cybernetics and Computer Science, from which he graduated in 1972. Then he took a post-graduate course at this faculty under supervision of N.S. Bakhvalov. In 1975 he finished the post graduade course and next year at Moscow State University he defended his Ph. D. thesis "Best Methods of Approximation, Using the Information about Finite Values of Functions".

Since December 1975 he is teaching at the Department of Higher Mathematics of Moscow Institute of Aviation Technology (now it is called "MATI" - Russian State University of Technology) as Assistant Professor (1975-1979), Associate Professor (1979-1994), and Professor (since 1994).

Since 1981 he is a permanent participant of the seminar of V.M. Tikhomirov on Approximation Theory at Moscow State University. In 1993 he defended his doctoral thesis "Optimal Recovery of Linear Functionals on Classes of Analityc Functions" at Steklov Mathematical Institute. Since February 1996 he is the head of Higher Mathematics Department of MATI. In 2000 and 2001 he was awarded by honorary title of Soros Professor. Since September 2008 he is also teaching at the Department of General Control of Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Moscow State University.
