Vasiliy Borisovich Demidovich (born. 30.08.1943 in Moscow)became a staff member of GPC department in 1970. He is a student of Aleksey Denisovich Gorbunov (1916-1990) and Vladimir Mikhaylovich Tikhomirov. His scientific interests include numerical analysis, qualitative theory of diffrential and finite-difference equations, approximation theory, theory of Chebyshev generalized polynomials, optimization in actuarial mathematics. He has published about 50 scientific works, including 3 books. Two of his students have become Ph.Ds. In 1971-1976 V.B. Demidovich was the scientific secretary of the GPC department and since 1994 he is the deputy head of the GPC department.
