Starting from an example, we deduce necessary conditions of order $n \in N$ for strictly singular length minimizing curves in sub-Riemannian manifolds. The key tools are new open mapping theorems and the analysis of the end-point map at any order. This is a joint work with F. Boarotto and A. Socionovo.
